Pedro teaches private and small-group percussion lessons for all ages, specializing in cajon, Afro-Peruvian percussion instruments such as cajita and quijada de burro (donkey's jaw), and conga and bongo. With a gentle and patient approach, he provides his students with rudiments, exercises, basic technique and rhythms, a variety of repertoire, and the ability to produce a beautiful sound on the instrument! Pedro also loves sharing his passion for the cajon with children and youth through "Proyecto Lando Kids", an engaging, dynamic ensemble designed to give children the opportunity to interact with Afro-Peruvian music, its fascinating rhythms and unique instruments. Pedro has participated in youth programming, classes and interactive assemblies with Youth in Arts, MACLA, World Arts West's "People Like Me" series, La Peña Cultural Center, Mission Cultural Center, and in Richmond public schools through the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts. He is also a consistent participant in the San Francisco Symphony's Adventures in Music program, performing in the San Francisco public elementary schools with the group Ka-hon.
